Daniel J. Mertes is a registered patent attorney practicing in the electrical and mechanical arts. He received his undergraduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.S. with Highest Distinction, 1992) and his law degree from the University of Minnesota (J.D., magna cum laude, 1995). Prior to law school, Dan worked at IBM in Rochester, Minnesota as an engineering intern in computer hardware development. Dan is admitted to practice law in Wisconsin and Minnesota (inactive status in Minnesota). He is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
