David Tran specializes in preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In addition, he provides litigation assistance, counseling, opinions regarding the validity and non-infringement of patents, and due diligence investigations prompted by acquisition or licensing ventures. David has successfully prepared and prosecuted patent applications in a wide range of technological fields. Prior to joining SLW, David was a senior patent counsel at Intel Corporation for five years where he served as the committee chair for an intellectual property committee and as the portfolio manager for a patent portfolio. Before that, he was an associate for three years at a major IP law firm in Silicon Valley where he prosecuted patents for various major Silicon Valley corporations. Before becoming an attorney, David was a Staff Engineer for International Business Machines (IBM) in San Jose, California. David received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Washington, a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Santa Clara, and a Juris Doctor degree from Lincoln Law School. David is admitted to practice in California and also before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
