- Warren Woessner spoke on claim construction at the C5 Conference: "Freedom to Operate" in London on July 5, 2006.
- SLW was an exhibitor as part of the Minnesota delegation at the BIO International Conference in Chicago, April 9-12th, 2006.
- Tim Bianchi presented at the Midwest IP Institute (Minneapolis, MN) on September 25, 2006. He spoke on the topic of Prosecution in View of Litigation.
- Warren Woessner spoke on patenting stem cells at the AUTM central Regional Meeting in Minneapolis on July 24, 2006. For more informations, visit www.autm.net.
- Tim Bianchi was asked to be on a panel at a continuing legal education series at Loyola Law School (Los Angeles, CA) concerning inventorship and related issues. The CLE took place on September 15, 2006.
- Tom Brennan was a featured speaker at the MIPLA Stampede on May 8, 2006. His talk addressed the changes in continuation pratice proposed by the US Patent and Trademark Office and thier effect on patent practice.
- Gary Speier spoke on "Ensuring Ownership of your Intellectual Property: Working with Consultants, Employees and Joint Developers," at the Licensing Executives Society (LES) Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ, on October 18, 2005.
- Warren Woessner spoke on "Patent Infringement and Freedom to Operate Opinions" at the PLI program, "Preparing Patent Legal Opinions" in New York City on September 28, 2005. For more information visit www.pli.edu.
- Warren Woessner spoke at "Client Servicing for the Legal Industry," a conference put on by Legal Education Associates in NYC on May 6, 2005.
- Suneel Arora spoke at a Minnesota CLE seminar on IP in Complex Corporate Transactions on May 18, 2005. His portion of the CLE will address Product Clearance and Non-Infringement Opinions.
- Andre Marais was a featured speaker at the Law Seminars International's workshop entitled "Patent Law for Non-Patent Lawyers and Business Professionals" on April 6, 2005 in San Francisco, CA. His seminar was entitled "Patent Prosecution 101" and was an overview of types of patents, obtaining patent protection, elements of a patent application, and patent prosecution procedures.
- Warren Woessner spoke on "Written Description Requirement - Strategies for Success in the Patent Office" on a panel on Claim Scope and Interpretation Issues at the BIO International Conference in Philadelphia on June 21, 2005. The firm was also an exhibitor and the conference as part of the Minnesota booth.
- Suneel Arora spoke on the "Servicing the Global Customer" panel at TiE's TiEcon 2005 in Santa Clara, CA, May 13 & 14th. Some of the prominent speakers at this TiEcon included Dr. Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google; Bruce Chizen, CEO of Adobe Systems; and Daniel Rosenweig, CEO of Yahoo!
- Warren Woessner spoke on "Research Tools - Fight or Flight" at the AIPLA Spring Meeting on May 11, 2005, as a participant in the educational track--"What's New in Biotech/Pharma Patent Law and Policy."
- Warren Woessner was part of a panel discussing the experimental use exceptions to patent infringement at the AUTM Central Region Meeting in Detroit on July 19, 2005.

- National Survey Ranks Minneapolis Patent Law Firm Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner Ranked #1 in Patent Quality
A survey of patent quality published in the March 2005 issue of IP Law & Business showed that Minneapolis-based intellectual property law firm Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner (SLWK) ranked in the top three for four of six categories of technology including Biotech, Electrical, Chemical, Computer/Software, and Medical. This was the third year in a row that SLW has been ranked number one in this survey.

- An article by Warren Woessner, "Claiming Metabolites: Federal Circuit Poses New Challenges to Patent Applicants," has been published in the September 2004 issueof Patent Strategy & Management (Law Journal Newsletters).
- The firm is proud to announce that Bradley Forrest has been named 2005-2007 Vice President of the Electronic and Computer Law Committee and Warren Woessner has been named Chair of the Biotechnology Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
- At the AIPLA Annual Meeting in October 2005, Warren Woessner was appointed to the Amicus Comittee.
- Janal Kalis was nominated as one of the "Women Changemakers" in The Business Journal's insert Women in Business (July 2003). The nominees are women who have made changes in their businesses, industries, or the Twin Cities business community. Ms. Kalis has helped develop and commercialize a web-based case management system for patent and trademark attorneys and launch a company called FoundationIP.
- Steve Lundberg was nominated as a 2003 "Innovator of the Year", by the Twin Cities business newspaper, Finance and Commerce. Mr. Lundberg created a completely new approach to the practice of law by originating the core concepts of a web-based document management system, now known as FoundationIP. All nominees will be recognized at a special luncheon on September 5, 2003.
- Warren Woessner's article "'Do Over!' - The Federal Circuit Takes a Second Look at Enzo v. Gen-Probe" was published in the April 2003 issue of the Journal of the Patent and Trademark Office Society.
- The 1999 settlement of University of Minnesota v. Glaxo is listed as the sixth largest patent litigation settlement "of all time" at $300 million in the February 2003 issue of Intellectual Property Today. This lawsuit involved a series of patents on anti-HIV drugs written and prosecuted by Warren Woessner, who also took part in the mediation process.
