Matt Prater was on a panel organized by the Emerging Technologies committee of the AIPLA. The topic for discussion will be the America Invents Act and how it affects smaller entities. The other panelists were David Boundy, of Cantor Fitzgerald, and Roberto Capriotti, a partner at K&L Gates.

Tim Bianchi was part of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s CLE “The New Patent Law” held on October 17, 2011. Tim spoke on “New, Revised and Now-Extinct Post-Issuance Proceedings.”

Warren Woessner, one of SLW’s founding shareholders, was a panelist at the AIPLA 2011 Annual Meeting on October 22, 2011. He was a member of the Patent Prosecutors Team in the new game show “Patent Wars – Prosecutors v. Litigators.” The Annual Meeting will be held in Washington, D.C.
Robin Chadwick, a shareholder of SLW, spoke at the 2011 Partnering in Patents program at the USPTO on October 19, 2011. Robin spoke on “Therasense from the Patent Bar Perspective.” For the last two years, AIPLA and the USPTO have held a joint focus session to solicit feedback from both patent practitioners and examiners on ways to improve interview practice. AIPLA and the USPTO continue this cooperative effort by holding another focus session this year that will look at ways to expedite prosecution in the USPTO.
