Jacques Loock has expertise primarily in the mechanical, software, and information technology fields. He received a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1994, an undergraduate degree in Law in 1996, and an LLB in 1998, all from the University of Pretoria. He practiced as a registered patent attorney in South Africa for 10 years, specializing in the drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications both in South Africa and in foreign countries. His practice also included strategic IP counseling, patent validity and infringement analysis and opinions, and drafting agreements involving the transfer and/or licensing of IP. He was a partner at South Africa's largest IP law firm from 2003 to 2008. Jacques joined Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner’s Austin office in 2009.
