Matthew Prater is an experienced mechanical engineer with a passion for technology - especially automotive technology. After working as an engineer in the Detroit area for Yazaki North America, Inc. researching electrical systems, Matt relocated to Minnesota to engineer hydraulic systems for Eaton Corp. Matt constantly seeks to sharpen his technological background, and is pursuing a masters in electrical engineering.

As a patent attorney, Matt works with next-generation power sources, such as KERS devices, capacitors and lithium-ion batteries. He represents medical device manufacturers, defense contractors and automobile manufacturers (including a well-known high-performance brand). Matt daily counsels clients on patent strategy, in addition to preparing and prosecuting patent applications and related opinions.

Matt is dedicated vehicle enthusiast. In addition to commuting to work via bicycle and light-rail, Matt owns and maintains a 1983 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce and a 1971 Chevrolet C-10, which he is upgrading with a modern drive-train capable of burning E85.
