Robert Hirning is a registered patent attorney and an associate of Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner, P.A. He has patent prosecution and counseling experience in a variety of technology areas, including computer software, computer hardware, medical devices, health information systems, business methods, and other general computer and electrical technologies. Robert’s experience also includes a variety of general intellectual property and transactional work, including due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, portfolio analysis, licensing, and open source counseling. He also has conducted the prosecution of a large number of new patent application filings under the USPTO Accelerated Examination program. Robert received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from North Dakota State University in 2003. During and after his undergraduate studies, Robert worked as a web developer and software engineer for BeAtHome.com, an internet startup company in Fargo, North Dakota, which was acquired by Echelon Corporation, a publicly traded electric controls and automation company. Robert received his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law, summa cum laude. He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Bar Association.
