Daniel Mertes is a registered patent attorney and Principal at Schwegman.  He has patent experience in various technology areas, including medical devices, electrical systems, telecommunications, computer hardware and software and semiconductor devices.  His practice includes patent prosecution and intellectual property counseling.  He received his undergraduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his law degree from the University of Minnesota.  Prior to law school, Dan worked at IBM in Rochester, Minnesota in computer hardware development.  Dan is admitted to practice law in Wisconsin and Minnesota.  He is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  Dan is located in Wisconsin as a Satellite Attorney.
