Opinion Work and Infringement Analysis
Opinion work and infringement analysis is one of SLW’s strengths. SLW attorneys are nationally recognized for the quality of their opinion work, and SLW puts on a biannual telephone seminar on opinion practice. SLW attorneys providing opinions are senior attorneys who have significant experience providing opinions to a variety of clients, and we see our opinion work playing a strong role in our client’s efforts to enforce their portfolio.
An advantage to refraining from the active conduct of litigation is that when SLW writes opinions on behalf of a client, that client’s trial attorneys are insulated from the possibility of being called as witnesses or even being disqualified. Furthermore, since SLW does not handle litigation, and thus has no incentive to push litigation as the ultimate solution to a dispute, it is able to provide relatively unbiased advice regarding such matters.
