Dr. Annette Flaherty is a chartered UK and European patent attorney at Murgitroyd.  Based in the UK, Annette has a PhD and BEng (HONS) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde.

Annette entered the patent profession in 2001 after working as an Engineer in the earth moving equipment industry, large steam turbines industry and as a Research Associate at the University of Strathclyde.  During her Research post she worked in materials engineering looking at failure characteristics, experimentally and finite element modelling, of metal matrix composites and of GFRP materials.  She wrote a PhD thesis about optimising the support of cylindrical GFRP vessels in horizontal orientation.

Annette’s practice is primarily mechanical engineering subject matter.  Annette works with clients in the plumbing products, renewables, medical device and the oil and gas sectors.
