Benjamin Brown transitioned from electrical engineering to a legal career at a large firm in 2005, eager to help clients protect their ideas. Mr. Brown then transitioned to an in-house position at a large technology company in 2011. He joined Schwegman in 2019 to use both his in-house experience and his patent prosecution experience. Mr. Brown has had the privilege to work with a broad and diverse range of clients, as well as a wide range of matters. He has handled intellectual property matters for concepts ranging from the incremental to the revolutionary. Mr. Brown and Schwegman understand that all of the matters handled by our firm are important to our clients and deserve the highest level of care.
Mr. Brown assists his clients through activities such as patent drafting, acquisition, advice, agreements, and supporting diligence. He is also well-versed in patent clearance investigations and can assist his clients in legal process development and agreement work. Mr. Brown helps clients understand the benefits–and limitations–of a variety of intellectual property protection regimes including patents and trade secrets.
By way of particular areas of emphasis, Mr. Brown enjoys working on matters related to electrical circuits, software, mechanical, and medical devices.
