Overview
Albin (Jim) Nelson is a registered patent attorney and senior principal/owner of Schwegman Lundberg & Woessner with over 40 years of experience in the intellectual property (IP) field. Dr. Nelson’s practice focuses on IP preparation and prosecution, counseling, infringement and validity opinions, reissues, Inter Partes Reviews (IPR’s), litigation counseling, associated FDA work and adversarial practice in chemical, polymer, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cosmetics and medical device fields. Dr. Nelson handles IP and general legal company issues for companies throughout the United States, Canada and Europe with special emphasis on launching new initiative efforts, and development of portfolio assets. Dr. Nelson has presented seminars on IP prosecution, opinion and litigation practice at pharmaceutical/biotechnology and chemical conferences throughout the world.
Dr. Nelson received his B.S. honors in chemistry, cum laude, University of Iowa (1968), his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the Iowa State University (1972, NASA Fellow, Phi Kappa Phi) and his J.D. from Fordham University (1980;). Dr. Nelson is a member of the Minnesota State Bar, 1989; New York State Bar, 1980; U.S. Patent Bar, 1976; and the U.S. District Court Bar, Minnesota, 1994. Dr. Nelson practiced IP law with organizations and law firms in New York and Minnesota during his career as a patent attorney.
