Upcoming CNIPA Holiday Closure – Mid-Autumn Festival

The China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) will be closed from September 13, 2019 to September 15, 2019 for the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节). All official deadlines falling on the above holiday will be automatically extended to September 16, 2019.

Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, is a harvest festival celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunar calendar – usually falling in September or October. Chinese celebrate the holiday by gathering with family, exchanging and eating mooncakes – a round rich pastry traditionally filled with sweet bean or lotus paste.  The round shape of mooncake not only symbolizes the shape of the moon on that day, but also the fulfillment of reunion of the families.
