Emily Niles, Partner, is a trial attorney and registered patent attorney at Robins Kaplan LLP who represents clients in high-stakes intellectual property and technology disputes. She has extensive experience litigating patent infringement matters involving complex technologies, including medical devices, software, and other innovations, as well as trade secrets and technology licensing disputes. She is also the Co-Chair of the firm’s Artificial Intelligence Committee. Emily has successfully represented clients through trial and appeal in federal courts across the country and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). With a background in neuroscience and psychology, she provides strategic insight into the evolving intersection of artificial intelligence, medical technology, and patent enforcement.
Prateek Viswanathan, Associate at Robins Kaplan LLP, focuses his practice on complex intellectual property litigation and patent disputes involving emerging technologies. Drawing on his background in biomedical engineering, he has worked on matters involving medical devices, computer algorithms, mobile payment systems, agricultural technologies, and other advanced innovations. Prateek has experience across all phases of litigation, from discovery and claim construction through trial, and has appeared in matters before both federal courts and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
Robert Hirning is a registered patent attorney and a principal at SLW. His practice involves nearly all aspects of patent application preparation, patent prosecution, and portfolio management. He has experience in technology areas including consumer electronic devices, software-driven medical devices, data storage, medical imaging products, applied artificial intelligence, health information systems, consumer products, agriculture technologies, and various niche fields. His legal experience also includes general intellectual property and transactional counseling, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, portfolio valuation and analysis, strategic licensing, and trade secret, copyright, and open source software license counseling.
