Overview

Laurie Young is a registered patent attorney in the Minneapolis office of SLW. Her practice focuses on U.S. and international patent prosecution, patent validity and infringement analyses, trademark counseling, and intellectual property agreements. She works with clients across a range of mechanical technologies, including medical devices, automotive, marine, and aerospace systems, as well as mechanical structures and construction technologies.

Prior to joining SLW, Laurie served as Senior Intellectual Property Counsel and Data Privacy Officer for an international corporation. In that role, she advised on freedom-to-operate analyses, patent and trademark strategy, intellectual property agreements, and corporate data privacy matters.

Laurie earned her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The George Washington University, with a concentration in aerospace engineering.

Outside the office, Laurie is an avid baker who enjoys competing in the Minnesota State Fair baking competition. Her award-winning creations include her first-place corn and bacon cookies.
