Overview

Marvin L. Beekman is a registered patent attorney, admitted to practice in Minnesota and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since 1994. His practice includes patent prosecution, intellectual property counseling, and opinions.

Marv has extensive experience securing patents for biomedical, electrical, mechanical, and software inventions. His technical expertise includes active medical device systems, electronics, integrated circuit design and fabrication, computer hardware, applied artificial intelligence, control systems, telecommunications, hydraulic systems, electromechanical systems, and consumer products.

He represents small, mid-size, and large companies—from startups to established global enterprises—as well as individual inventors. Marv provides strategic counseling and manages patent portfolios to secure effective protection in the United States and internationally, delivering practical, cost‑effective solutions aligned with his clients’ business goals. He also brings valuable in‑house perspective from his early‑career role as Attorney/Director of Operations for a maturing engineering company and from his ongoing collaboration with corporate patent departments.

Marv enjoys the variety of technologies he encounters and the opportunity to tailor his counsel to each client’s needs. Outside of work, he follows his family’s activities and enjoys spending time with them on the golf course.

Marv earned his B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering from Dordt College and his J.D. from Hamline University School of Law. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association.
