Janet E. Embretson is a registered patent attorney practicing in the areas of biotechnology and chemical patent prosecution, and related opinion work. Janet received her undergraduate degree in microbiology from the University of Minnesota (Phi Beta Kappa, B.S., 1981). She received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in molecular biology in 1987. She did post-doctoral research at Tufts University School of Medicine, Harvard University School of Public Health, and the University of Minnesota where her research focused on animal models for AIDS and development of PCR in situ methodologies for detecting HIV in patient samples. Janet received her law degree from Hamline University School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1993).
